National Distance Learning Week is finally here! We have a great week, chock full of events and workshops about distance learning. Here are today’s events, by campus:

East Campus

Online Tutoring

This session discusses online tutoring options using SMARTHINKING, demonstrates how students can register for online tutoring and experience a live tutoring session.
Intended Audience: Faculty, Staff, and Students

Metro Campus

What’s an Online Course? (Booth)

Provide handouts of online and hybrid modalities including new distance learning definitions, information on SMARTHINKING, eMentoring, and eAdvising.

West Campus

Introducing Yourself to Your Students Virtually: 5 Ways In Under 30 Minutes

One of the first and most important aspects of a quality online course is the instructor introduction. Want to step it up a notch from a text-based introduction? Want to learn about a few technologies you can use to make an engaging introduction to capture your students’ attention from day one? Come join us for a quick overview of five different technologies that can be used for your instructor introduction! Pair this session with the “Make It and Take It” session and your introduction will be ready to go!

Make It and Take It: Introducing Yourself To Your Students Virtually (Workshop)

One of the first and most important aspects of a quality online course is the instructor introduction. In this hands-on session, you will be able to use technology (Voki, Jing, Audacity, Voicethread, or Video) to create a personal introduction to your students. You’ll MAKE your introduction and TAKE it with you to use in your course. **Participants should come prepared with a script of your introduction.
